Marie Lesclingand

Marie Lesclingand is a Doctor in Socio-demography and Senior Lecturer at the Sociology/Ethnology Department at Nice-Sophia Antipolis University.

She is also a researcher associated with the Demography, Gender and Society Unit of INED.

Research fields

- Female migration and gender in Africa.
- Transition to adulthood in rural Mali (marriage, fertility, migration).
- Female genital mutilation and health

Current research

- Female genital mutilation and Handicap : measurement of injuries and trauma and assessment of needs in Reconstructive Surgical Procedure : project financed by the ANR, collaboration with Paris 1 University (Idup) and Ined (Violence and Gender Project)
- Demographic dynamics, conjugality and parentality in Africa. Follow up survey in rural Africa (Bwa, Mali) (collaboration with Ined).
